Twas the Night of Homecoming (Part 1)

So gather round young an ol’ its that time of year
To come back to your alma mater and give a good cheer
Now listen to this great tale that I will tell
It all starts on Friday night with the sound of a bell

The sound rings out starting on Frat Row
Like sirens so everyone in the dorms would know
That the great bonfire was about to begin
And it was time to give our team hopes that they'd soon win…

Twas the night of homecoming and all through Fout’s Field
Not a fan could stay calm because of the thrill.
The fans were alive with no type of fear
In hopes that their Mean Green would soon be here.

The band played the fight song with such cheerful devotion
In hopes that it would ignite the fans emotion
And just when I thought that it could not come sooner
I heard the scariest sound that came from “The Boomer”

The Mean Green had run out onto field.
Running as if nothing would cause them to yield
The players gathered together on the sideline
While the refs tossed the coin looking for a sign

As the ref blew the whistle, the fans rose to their feet
And put up the eagle claw for the other team we would defeat
No sooner than the start of the football team’s run
The ball was kicked off and the game had begun

To be continued… (Part Two: The Game)
