Fout’s Field Finale “Thanks for the Memories”

Ok so here’s the deal.  This past Saturday, the UNT football team played its final game at Fouts Field.  Next year, the mean green will open their season in a new stadium which is currently being built across Interstate 35.  The new stadium is expected to bring high hopes for the football team and the school which include having an energy efficient stadium that is Gold LEED certified to aid in the University’s goal of going green, possibly moving to a higher NCAA conference, and possibly recruiting better players to aid a struggling football team.

Though changing to a larger stadium is probably for the best, Fouts Field will always hold a lot of good and bad memories for the time I have been at UNT.  Some of the good memories I will always remember are the tailgating before the game started and hanging out with friends and family at the game to cheer on UNT.  Despite the many losses that came to the football team, the game always brought something to do on the weekend.  Some of the bad memories that I will always have are all the close football games that UNT lost at Fouts Field (which are a lot of close games), and the one time I could have but did not rush the field for UNT winning a home game.

I hope this new stadium will bring new and lasting memories for all the students for the future to come.  Farewell Fouts.
