Whoever Make’s us Win

Ok so here’s the deal, this football season at UNT has been hectic.  In October the head football coach Todd Dodge was relieved of his duties after not producing a winning football season in the past three years.  Dodge’s interim head coach was the offensive coordinator Mike Canales who was able to produce a 2-3 record for the remainder of the season.  Along with several injured players and the untimely death of a player, the team has been through a lot this season.

Despite the setbacks, the Mean Green are moving on and have hired Dan McCarney as the new head coach.  At this point in football at UNT, it really does not matter…it’s all about whoever makes us win.  The new coach Dan McCarney has led the different teams he coached under to bowl game appearances including the 2008 Florida Gators.  One notable mention about Dan McCarney is he is known for creating good defenses.  But as I said before, who ever makes us win is all that is important.

Even coach McCarney’s record will not speak for how his performance will turn out.  When Dodge was hired he came in with four 5A State Championships but unfortunately ended with a 6-37 record at UNT.  Charlie Weis was the head coach of Notre Dame and had several losing seasons despite being the offensive coordinator for the Superbowl winning New England Patriots.

Only time will tell whether or not the new football coach turns the stuggling football program around and brings UNT back to the glory it used to be.  But as I said before, whoever makes us win.
